The Committee

How is the Committee established?  The Committee is made up of parent volunteers.  All Committee positions become vacant at the Annual General Meeting of the Association.  Elections for the following year take place at the same Annual General Meeting.

What does the Committee do? The Committee is responsible for management of the centre and employment of staff.  They ensure that systems and practices are in place for the centre to operate both functionally and financially.  The Committee appoints and supports staff, develops and monitors budgets, promotes the centre, develops policies and establishes a process for parents to have input into the centre.  The Committee keeps up to date with current legislation and changes in the industry, and maintain records.

The pre-school follows the rules as set out in the Constitution as well as Department guidelines and regulations.  The pre-school is bound by the National Quality Framework.  The pre-school has a funding and service agreement with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development which entitles the centre to funding for the four year old programs and determines the funding levels.

How often do they meet? The general Committee meet once a month at a time and day determined by the Committee.  All members are expected to attend each meeting when possible.  Occasionally members may be required to participate in a sub-committee.
